Paddle Power Scheme

  • Paddle Power Start – an entry level award suitable for taster sessions or as part of a series of sessions.
  • Paddle Power Passport – four progressive levels based on 24 topics which can be grouped into Safety Awareness, Paddling Skills, Varied Experiences, and Supporting Knowledge.
  • Paddle Power Discover – this follows on from Passport with a further 4 levels to take the young paddler to a higher level.
  • Paddle Power Explore - three different levels take the paddler on an extensive journey exploring the great variety Paddle sport, with topics focused on participation in events and journeys in the competitive and non-competitive disciplines. 
  • Paddle Power Excel - three levels to test the paddler on all elements of paddle-sport including being responsible for self and others, participation in journeys, coaching sessions, training, events/competitions in a variety of disciplines, background knowledge of the sport; access, rules, environmental, nutrition and goal setting.

Paddle-power Start - Level 1 (1 day course). 

Introductory award designed to encourage and reward the paddler at the end of their first session.

£45.00 includes ferry fee's and entry to Brownsea Island

Paddle-power Passport  - levels 2-5 (3 Day course)

These are progressive  award  enabling you to work toward becoming a more competent paddler.

 £135.00 includes ferry fee's and entry to Brownsea Island

Paddle-power Discover - levels 6-9  (3 Day Course)

These series of awards are designed to help you work towards becoming a more independent paddler.

Practice sessions (under 16s). During a Practice Session you can do a number of things. You can practice or complete skills learnt on the paddle-power scheme, get back on the water if you have not been in a boat for a while or try a different type of boat and have lots of fun.

£30 per day includes ferry fee's and entry to Brownsea Island

Kayaking Scheme

  • Start Kayaking - BCU 1 Star - 2 day course

An Introductory course will include basic boat handling and the essential background knowledge. You will learn how to paddle and steer around a figure of eight course, how to paddle backwards and stop and what to do when the boat capsizes. There will be plenty of fun and games which usually involves getting wet. 

£135.00 includes ferry fee's and entry to Brownsea Island

  • Improving Techniques - BCU 2 Star 2 day course

The course will start by re-capping on the skills learnt on the BCU 1 Star course and then build on these basic skills to develop your ability. This course will give you basic skills that you will need to paddle in groups. New BCU syllabus contains learning basic skills in an open canoe also. One journey must be completed for the 2* course to be passed.

£135.00 includes ferry fee's and entry to Brownsea Island

  • Practice Sessions Pre-requisite: BCU 1 Star  

During a practice session you will be able to run through the basic 1* skills and become proficient at these. It is also an opportunity for you to gain confidence in your kayaking abilities and on the water. An introduction to open canoes can also be performed within this session.

£30 per day includes ferry fee's and entry to Brownsea Island
