Level 1 Sailing Beginner
Full 3 day course price starting from £150 per person.
Comprising of six lessons of
2.5 hours each. This programme is suited to those wanting to achieve a
competent level of sailing ability. Boats used are: Laser Pico,
Wayfarers and Enterprises.
By the end of the course, participants will have had a basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge. It is recommended that all participants consolidate this short introduction with the Basic Skills Level 2 course.
Level 2 Sailing Basic Skills
Full 3 day course price starting from £150 per person.
Comprising of six lessons of 2.5 hours each. This programme is suited to
those wanting to achieve a competent level of sailing ability. Boats
used are: Laser Pico, Wayfarers and Enterprises.
By the end of the course, the successful
sailor will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of
sailing and be capable of sailing without an instructor on
board in light winds. It will be assumed that every student
starting this course has already mastered the practical
skills and absorbed the background knowledge required for
Start Sailing Level 1. Both courses can be combined.
Practical work will be assessed on a continuous basis though
an oral interview or short written paper may be used as the
basis for theory assessment if required. Students will be
kept informed of their individual progress throughout the
course.
Level 3 Sailing New for 2010
Full 2
day course prices starting from £135 per person.
Level 3 is a new pilot scheme introduced by the RYA as a
stepping stone between level 2 and the advance modules of
the sailing scheme. This course consolidates what you
have learnt in Levels 1 & 2 and goes on to give you taster
sessions in four of the advanced modules, Start Racing,
Sailing with Spinnakers, Day Sailing and Seamanship skills.
Combined 5 day course RYA level 1 and 2
Full 5 day course price starting from £225 per person.
Comprising of ten lessons of 2.5 hours each. This programme is suited to those wanting to achieve a competent level of sailing ability quickly. The course includes all of the elements in the RYA level 1 and 2 Scheme with the opportunity to participate in a round the island sail and picnic on the last day.
