Welcome to Harbour
Challenge
Established in 1996 as a charitable
organization
Harbour Challenge is situated on
the south side of Brownsea
Island
located on a SSSI site and is also the birth place of Scouting. We are
located in the very heart of
Poole
Harbour, providing us with one of
the safest coastal area's to work in.
Harbour Challenge applied for full charitable status and was fortunate
enough for this to be agreed by the Charity Commission in 2004, giving us
access to other sources of funding. This allowed us to provide greater
opportunities to our members, enabling the expansion of the
charity to its present status.
We are registered with Adventure Activities Licensing
Authority (AALA), Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and affiliated to the
British Canoe Union (BCU). We meet all necessary national governing
body guidelines and carry all the relevant insurances.
With
Poole
Harbour
literally on our doorstep, we have immediate access to a superb teaching
environment, a fleet of dinghies and kayaks to choose from with a team of
experienced RYA instructors and BCU Coaches to guide you.
Harbour Challenge, provides a high quality outdoor
educational experience which is second to none. Whether you are a youngster
in an Pico for the first time or an adult experiencing the thrill of flying
a spinnaker or sitting in a kayak or canoe we can give you the opportunity
of sailing or paddling around the harbour, emphasis will be placed on
practical hands-on experience in a safe learning environment with qualified
staff leading the groups
Chris Hurlock
Centre Principal.
